Abstract :

Staying with financial matters, the Central Bank is to carry out a review after it emerged that thousands of homeowners have been denied payments on insurance policies they took out in the event of them losing their jobs. Now these policies were designed to keep monthly payments going for a year, if the policyholder lost a job through redundancy, an accident or sickness. But the Irish Independent today reports that Insurers, in many cases, have refused to pay out when people were laid off. Now in a moment we'll have more on this from Charlie Weston, the Personal Finance Editor of the Irish Independent, but first this observation from John Geraghty of LA Brokers on the Insurance Policies. Bernard Sheridan is also joining us, he's Director of Consumer Protection at the Central Bank. Is there prima facie evidence of misselling Bernard Sheridan?
